Had another fab coaching session with Kertrina Gearing today whose made me realise how far I've come in the year we've spent together. I'm so much better at advocating for myself at home, at work and with my friends but not in an apologetic way. My brain is wired differently so I need to do things differently and I don't have to apologise for that. I like being organised because otherwise I get anxious, stressed and overwhelmed. But I don't want to be responsible for plans (just ask everyone who came to Dublin and witnessed my street side meltdown). It's not loud noises that overwhelm me but layered noises of any kind. All hail noise cancelling headphones. I get peopled out and need to factor decompression time into any time away. I struggle with rejection sensitivity dysphoria ALOT and it causes all sorts of problems. I never spend any time celebrating the successes - I just move onto the next thing. But being aware of those things helps me massively because I can now advocate for myself and explain why I need things not just what they are! Here's hoping 2026 is just as enlightening and that I keep sharing both my ADHD struggles and successes

Big shout out to Kertrina Gearing who I've been having 1:1 coaching with. She's awesome and she gets it and every session she gives me ideas on how to make my life easier. This past week I've been scheduling admin time after she suggested it and it's working really well! I have a little list and chuck stuff on the list and forget about it until I need to. I've also put so many other things she's suggested intro practice too. I was feeling so discombobulated after the holiday and with her help and guidance, I'm feeling back in control again. I've had all sorts of therapy and CBT and counselling over the years but I've genuinely loved my sessions with Kertrina because I could be exactly who I am with her and didn't feel judged. There was no awkwardness just a genuine desire to help me. I've ranted, I've raved, I've felt overwhelmed and sad but by the end felt like and had actions to take away with me. When I'm feeling low I can very much get stuck in a negative mindset but Kertrina offered simple suggestions to turn things around. And a lot of the time it was just me catastrophising and making anxious predictions! If you're looking for someone who will hear you and do it in a super safe and friendly environment then Kertrina is your woman!
